Living Room Makeover Project
Using our ‘At Home’ Design Advisory Service we have helped to transform our clients living room into a very calm and sophisticated space. The aim o…
Our client came to us with a cutting from a magazine showing a photo of a standard size sofa covered in a beautiful printed cotton fabric, they loved the shape of the sofa and the fabric.
The brief was to make a bespoke large U shaped sofa, to fit their Garden Room, allowing space to move around easily. This was to be made in a similar style to the sofa they had seen in the magazine and covered in the same botanical print fabric that we recognised from our own fabric library.
A home visit was arranged to go through and understand the clients needs and to see the space. It was at the home visit that Jeremy; ex Minty furniture developer, realised they had an L shaped sofa which they no longer needed. He came up with the idea to modify the existing sofa by making a frame extension. We mirrored the left hand side changing it into the U shaped sofa our client had asked for.
The below picture shows the original L shaped sofa before we transformed it.
Jeremy knew the L shaped sofa would potentially end up in landfill, as it didn’t have the fire labels required to sell on or give to a charity shop. Rather than waste a perfectly good quality piece of furniture the customer agreed for us to reuse. Not only do they feel happy that they have up-cycled their “old favourite”, they have saved themselves money in the process.
The original fabric chosen was changed in favour of another stunning vibrant fabric we also have in our library, Sanderson palm leaf pattern, printed on a close weave 90% cotton 10% linen base cloth. The fabric compliments the customer's garden room perfectly.
See what our client had to say...
"We just wanted to say what a great success our new sofa has been. It really came into its own during the recent holidays. Thank you for making replacing our sofa so painless. It was very professionally done and thanks also for doing the scatter cushions. Much appreciated."
