Asnew has been designing and making quality new furniture since 2014. In recent years, we have been researching and testing entirely sustainable natural materials for the cushioning and fabric of our furniture. In 2024, we launched our sustainable new furniture system. Today, all our new furniture pieces can be made in an environmentally friendly way that will last a lifetime.

At Asnew, we are dedicated to creating timeless, high-quality sustainable furniture that reflects our core values of eco-friendly craftsmanship and sustainable design. Our new collection of sustainable furniture is designed to complement various interior styles, making it an ideal choice for clients furnishing their first home or looking to seamlessly integrate new pieces with their existing decor.
All of our furniture can be produced using our sustainable furniture system, which consists of 100% natural and biodegradable materials. This approach completely eliminates the need for foam and synthetic fibers, ensuring that each piece is both beautiful, long lasting and environmentally responsible.
We integrate high-quality craftsmanship with innovative, eco-friendly, and sustainable materials such as graphite-infused latex, rubberised coir, and layered wool sourced from the UK. Our dedication to sustainable furniture guarantees durable and environmentally conscious products.
At Asnew, we offer an extensive selection of sustainable natural fabrics from top brands like Mulberry, Colefax & Fowler, and Linwood. These premium, eco-friendly fabrics are available for viewing by appointment in our showroom, where you can explore a variety of sustainable options for your furniture upholstery needs.
All Asnew furniture frames are constructed from solid wood that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Once the frame is fully assembled, checked, and sanded to remove any rough edges, the natural jute webbing is installed, ready to support the springs.
The springs are installed onto the webbing and secured in place with natural twine.
While the chair and springs are being assembled, the team cuts the rubberised coir to size.
The graphite-infused latex is cut to size.
The final layer of cushioning, the layered wool, is planned and cut to size before upholstery.
All the layers are then brought together on the chair and adjusted for a perfect fit.
While the cushioning and wool-safe (fire retardant) interliner are fitted, planning and cutting of the upholstery fabric can be completed.
Here, the seamstress is sewing in the pleats to the outer shell in preparation for the upholstery.
Our experienced upholsters skillfully upholster the chair, ensuring the patterns align and the finish is smooth and crease-free.
The final product is entirely sustainable and can be reupholstered in the future if fashion trends change or if the upholstery becomes worn or damaged.
Many of the sustainable materials we use are naturally fire retardant, and the furniture composition is fully fire tested and FIRA rated.
Yes, sustainable furniture often lasts as long as, or even longer than, conventional furniture. It is typically made from high-quality, durable materials such as solid wood, organic fabrics, and non-toxic finishes, which contribute to its longevity. Additionally, Asnew prioritise craftsmanship, ensuring that their pieces are built to withstand regular use over time.
In contrast, conventional furniture, particularly mass-produced items, often uses cheaper materials like particleboard or synthetic fabrics that tend to wear out more quickly. While sustainable furniture may have a higher upfront cost, its durability makes it a better long-term investment.
Yes, we can sustainably reupholster your existing furniture. We use eco-friendly materials, such as organic fabrics, natural padding (made from wool or latex), and non-toxic adhesives. Reupholstering not only extends the life of your furniture but also reduces waste and minimizes environmental impact. Additionally, by sourcing materials from local or certified sustainable suppliers, we ensure an environmentally friendly process. This approach helps preserve well-built furniture while supporting sustainable living practices.
Sustainable furniture can be just as comfortable as conventional furniture. We use high-quality, natural materials such as organic cotton, wool, and natural latex, which offer both comfort and durability. These sustainable options prioritize ergonomics and health, ensuring comfort without the harmful chemicals often found in some conventional materials.
Sustainable furniture and reupholstery often come with a higher upfront cost due to the use of eco-friendly materials, ethical production practices, and superior craftsmanship. Sustainable furniture typically incorporates responsibly sourced wood (FSC certified), organic fabrics, and non-toxic finishes, all of which are more expensive than conventional materials. Additionally, using sustainable options for reupholstery, such as organic fabrics or natural padding, also contributes to higher costs.
However, these items tend to be more durable and environmentally friendly, ultimately leading to long-term savings by reducing the need for replacements. While the initial investment is greater, choosing sustainable options provides benefits for both your home and the planet in the long run.
